Watch out for the narrow driving lane at highway repair locations

A highway lane must be at least 2.5 m wide, which is bordering the safety limit for trucks. Refrigerated vehicles can be up to 2.6 m wide. A whole new situation occurs at the narrowed sections of highways where roadworks are being carried out. The lanes are often much narrower there and can only fit small vehicles.

Do not take any risks like the driver of a Polish truck on highway D1 along a section that was under reconstruction. The driver “only” lost his rear-view mirror as part of his stuntman attempt, which he eventually gave up on. It is better if you do not venture into the left narrow lane along roadwork locations at all.
