High-speed weighing
The amendment on the act on road communications, which now permits high-speed weigh-in-motion systems, came into effect on 1 January 2010. Vehicles no longer need to be diverted off the road and can instead be weighed during normal traffic by simply driving over the scales installed on roads.
Several high-speed scales are currently already in operation. Additional weight monitoring locations are under construction. Eventually 220 weight monitoring spots should be available.
A fine of CZK 5,000 to 15,000 may be issued for violating the rule. This amount may be raised to up to CZK 30,000 if the fine is issued under mandate proceedings. Further weight violations may attract fines of CZK 100,000 to 500,000.
