Careful About Mobile Phones While Driving

It is forbidden to use a mobile phone or other communications equipment without a hands-free set while driving a vehicle in the Czech Republic. Being in a call while driving has the same impact as driving after drinking three pints of beer. It has been proven that when a driver is in a call with the phone in their hand (or even when using a hands-free set), they are almost 10% slower to press the brake pedal if they have to brake to avoid a collision.

Being on the phone without a hands-free set or acquiring documentation for a social network is punishable with a fine of up to CZK 2,500 on site, and up to CZK 10,000 in administrative proceedings, plus 4 penalty points for the driver.
